With Artificial Intelligence being the hottest thing at the moment, investors have been looking at one computer chip company in particular. (Surprise – it’s Nvidia!)
Back in the day Nvidia was known for powering The Playstation or the Xbox and similar with its GPU processors.
It was not till very recently that Nvidia came out with special chips that really changed their game completely.
These special chips, or “discrete” GPU’s turned out to be great at parallel computing. Parallel computing is a type of computation in which many calculations or processes are carried out simultaneously. This is in contrast to CPU’s for example, which processes are carried out one after the other. This particular GPU ended up being great for programming AI.
