Sparkle, Italy’s leading international service provider and one of the world’s major global operators, has expanded its European presence with the launch of a new Point of Presence (PoP) in Helsinki, Finland. The move strengthens Sparkle’s network footprint in Northern Europe, bringing its total PoPs in the continent to 89, and underscores the company’s role in meeting the rising demand for international connectivity.
The new node is strategically located at the Digita Data Center, a modern facility and fast-growing internet hub in Helsinki. It complements Sparkle’s existing infrastructure in Stockholm and is equipped with a 400GBE-enabled router to support the region’s surging need for IP Transit services. The Nordic and Baltic countries, increasingly central to Europe’s digital economy, are expected to benefit from greater capacity, redundancy, and diversity of international routes.
DDoS Protection. Mitigating Cyberthreats, Virtual NAP
Fully integrated into Sparkle’s Tier 1 global IP backbone, Seabone, the Helsinki PoP enables network operators, ISPs, OTT providers, content delivery networks, and enterprises to access reliable, low-latency IP transit services at scale, with throughput in the terabit-per-second range.
Beyond IP Transit, the site also delivers Sparkle’s suite of value-added services, including DDoS Protection to mitigate cyberthreats and Virtual NAP, which allows customers to connect virtually to leading Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) without investing in their own infrastructure.
With a growing European presence and a portfolio that spans IP, SD-WAN, colocation, IoT connectivity, messaging, roaming, and voice services, Sparkle is reinforcing its position as a key enabler of digital transformation across the continent. From the Mediterranean to the Baltics, the company is playing a pivotal role in shaping Europe’s evolving connectivity landscape.
