ODATA, a subsidiary of Aligned Data Centers, has secured US $1.02 billion in green financing dedicated to sustainable data center infrastructure projects across Latin America. The new capital brings ODATA’s total financing to US $2.25 billion, marking the largest sustainable financing package ever issued for the region’s data center sector.
The funding strengthens the company’s ability to meet the surging demand for cloud and AI infrastructure while maintaining strict commitments to environmental responsibility.
The financing round drew support from a group of international financial institutions, including Apterra, BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole CIB, Deutsche Bank, MUFG Bank, Natixis Corporate and Investment Banking, Nomura, Société Générale, and SMBC. The funds will be directed to projects adhering to rigorous sustainability standards, emphasizing renewable energy use, energy efficiency, and eco-conscious construction practices.
Rafael Bomeny, CFO of ODATA, described the deal as a landmark achievement that underscores the company’s vision for sustainable digital growth. “This green financing strengthens our financial structure and positions us to support our clients’ digital infrastructure expansion throughout the region,” he said. “By focusing on sustainability, we’re not only advancing cutting-edge technologies but also fostering a more productive and environmentally responsible future for our communities.”
Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia
The company’s growth strategy includes expanding its footprint in key Latin American markets such as Brazil, Mexico, Chile, and Colombia. These countries are seeing rising demand for robust IT infrastructure capable of supporting cloud services and artificial intelligence workloads. With its expanded financial resources, ODATA aims to address this demand while ensuring that its projects align with environmental goals.
Sustainability has long been central to ODATA’s operating model. The company operates the first hyperscale data center in Latin America powered entirely by self-produced renewable energy in Brazil. It also incorporates innovative design approaches to maximize energy efficiency and minimize water usage. Beyond renewable integration, ODATA has introduced Delta³, a proprietary air-cooling technology developed by Aligned Data Centers. This system supports up to 50kW per rack and is designed to integrate with advanced liquid cooling systems, enabling data centers to handle high-density workloads more sustainably.
The announcement underscores the accelerating convergence of sustainability and digital infrastructure investment in Latin America. With demand for AI and cloud computing on the rise, ODATA’s financing milestone not only strengthens its leadership in the market but also sets a new benchmark for environmentally aligned data center development in the region.
