AMD has completed the sale of ZT Systems’ data center infrastructure manufacturing division to U.S.-based electronics manufacturer Sanmina Corporation (NASDAQ: SANM), marking a significant step in its strategy to strengthen large-scale AI and cloud infrastructure capabilities.
Under the agreement, AMD retains ZT Systems’ design and customer support teams, a move intended to enhance quality control and accelerate the deployment of its AI systems for hyperscale and cloud customers.
Sanmina will serve as AMD’s preferred manufacturing partner for new product introductions (NPI) across its rack and cluster-scale AI solutions, expanding AMD’s ecosystem of OEM and ODM collaborations.
Sanmina’s U.S.-based Manufacturing
The deal reflects AMD’s effort to move beyond its traditional role as a chipmaker and into full-stack innovation – spanning silicon, software, and complete data center systems.
By aligning with Sanmina’s U.S.-based manufacturing capabilities, AMD aims to deliver greater flexibility, faster production timelines, and improved scalability for cloud and AI clients facing surging compute demands.
The collaboration underscores a growing industry trend toward vertically integrated AI infrastructure solutions, as hardware and system vendors seek tighter control over design, production, and deployment cycles to meet the exponential growth in AI workloads.
