Lisa Gade reviews the Alienware m15 R5 Ryzen edition 15.6” gaming laptop with their updated “Legend” design that we’ll also see in the just announced Alienware m15 R6 with Intel 11th gen CPUs. The R5 is available with AMD Zen 3 Ryzen 7 5800H and Ryzen 9 5900HX 8-core processors and NVIDIA RTX 3060 and 3070 graphics. Dell offers it with full HD 165Hz, full HD 360Hz and QHD 240Hz fast refresh IPS displays and your choice of a traditional zone backlit keyboard and the CherryMX per key RGB mechanical keyboard. The Alienware has 2 RAM slots and socketed Wi-Fi 6 card, which is a great improvement over the past few generations that had those parts soldered. We cover benchmarks, thermals and noise, and compare it with the last gen R4, Asus ROG Strix and Lenovo Legion 5 Pro.
