Today, we’re diving deep into the Google Helpful Content Update madness. It’s been 10 days since its release on the 14th of September, and the SEO community is buzzing. From massive traffic hits to surprising boosts, everyone’s talking about it. In this video, I’ll share my personal experiences, the good, the bad, and the downright ugly, and reveal how my websites have been impacted.
Yesterday, I touched on the severity of this update. The reactions have been intense, with some sites experiencing up to 75% traffic drops. But it’s not just AI-generated content that’s affected; many human-written sites have also taken a hit. We’ll also discuss the intriguing world of parasite SEO and what’s currently unfolding there.
Being transparent is crucial to me. So, I’ll give you a no-nonsense overview of my Google Search Console data, showing which of my sites have been affected and which are thriving. Some of my AI-generated sites, like Discover Others, have shown remarkable resilience and growth, while others have felt the sting of the update.
But it’s not all doom and gloom. Some sites have shown promising trajectories, and others have managed to maintain their performance. However, there are also those that have taken significant hits, and I’ll be candid about those too.
From this rollercoaster of an update, I’ve gleaned two key insights. First, question-related keywords might be more vulnerable now, especially with platforms like Quora and Reddit gaining traction. Second, diversifying your traffic sources is more crucial than ever. Relying solely on Google can be a risky game, and it’s wise to spread your bets.
