Telin Chooses Nokia to Expand Data Center Links in Singapore

Telin, the Singapore-based subsidiary of Telekomunikasi Indonesia International, has chosen Nokia to modernize and expand its data center interconnect network across Singapore. The move underscores the growing importance of low-latency, high-capacity connectivity in a city-state that serves as one of the world’s major digital hubs.

The deployment will rely on Nokia’s optical transport technology, specifically its 1830 GX compact modular platform combined with an open optical line system. This setup leverages pluggable coherent optics to provide scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient connections between strategically located data centers. The resulting infrastructure aims to deliver island-wide coverage while offering the lowest-latency services for enterprises and hyperscalers operating in Singapore.

For Telin, the upgrade is both a modernization effort and an investment in future growth. Indarto Nata, CEO of Telin Singapore, said the company remains committed to connecting Singapore with the global digital economy through strong infrastructure partnerships. He highlighted that Nokia’s technology will allow Telin to reduce total cost of ownership while supporting the increasing bandwidth requirements of its customers.

Next Wave of AI Growth

Singapore’s role as a regional and global business hub makes its data center infrastructure central to maintaining competitiveness. With demand accelerating around cloud services, hyperscale deployments, and artificial intelligence workloads, robust and efficient interconnects are becoming mission critical.

Ron Johnson, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Optical Networks at Nokia, noted that the partnership with Telin aims to ensure Singapore’s digital foundation keeps pace with these demands. He described the project as a step toward preparing the country for the next wave of growth in the AI era.

The collaboration strengthens both Telin’s service offerings and Singapore’s digital infrastructure, ensuring customers across sectors can scale their operations with reliable and cost-effective interconnectivity.
