OpenAI and NVIDIA have revealed plans for a strategic partnership that could mark one of the most ambitious infrastructure undertakings in the history of artificial intelligence. The two companies have signed a letter of intent to deploy at least 10 gigawatts of NVIDIA systems that will serve as the backbone of OpenAI’s next-generation AI models, including those on the path toward what the company describes as ‘superintelligence.’
NVIDIA has indicated it may invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI to support the rollout of these systems, which will require extensive new data center and power capacity.
The initial phase of deployment is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026, powered by NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin platform.
