I recently switched from Google Chrome to Brave browser. The step might seem trivial to some, but my need for privacy prompted me to do this.

Once I was convinced by the browser’s features, I decided to install it. But I quickly realized using it is not the same as using other browsers like Chrome. It is worth noting that using the browser is not difficult! It’s just a little different.

Many others who use the browser may need help with tasks like switching to private mode. So, I decided to create this guide that details the process of switching to private mode and opening new tabs.

Open New Tabs and Windows in Brave Browser

Opening new tabs on the Brave browser is similar to opening new tabs on other browsers. It’s something all of us have done while multitasking.

Here are the steps to open the New Tabs and Windows in Brave Browser:

1. Launch Brave browser on the computer.
2. Click on the Plus  at the top of the tab bar.
   It will open the new tab in the Brave browser.

You can press Ctrl + T to open a new tab. Alternatively, You can click on the More menu and select the New tab option.

Similarly, you can select the New Window from More

options or keypress the Ctrl + N to open the new window of the Brave browser.

Note: You can use the Cmd instead of Ctrl for Mac computer for same function.

Private Browsing Mode

The incognito mode is not called the incognito mode on the Brave browser. Instead, it is called the private mode. However, the name doesn’t matter as long as it gets the job done! Private tabs allow users to browse the internet with extra privacy.

Websites that you visit on private windows will not appear in your browsing history. All site data, cookies, etc., disappear once you close the window. You can also open a private window with Tor for even more privacy.

Switching to Private Browsing on Brave

Switching to incognito mode on the Brave browser is so easy that it does not take more than thirty seconds.

Here are the steps to open Private Mode on the Brave browser:

1. Launch Brave Browser on the Computer.
2. Click on the More  located at the top right of the screen.
   
3. Click on the New Private Window in the options menu.
   

Alternatively, on Windows, you can use the keyboard shortcut by pressing the keys Ctrl + Shift + N simultaneously. The private window will be opened where you can browse safely.

You can use the Ctrl/Cmd + T keypress shortcut in private mode to open new private tabs in Brave Browser. Or you can also click on the Plus 

button in the tab bar.
