About the Webinar

Whether it’s landing a job in a new industry, snagging a new client, or taking a beginner tech course, there’s a first time for everything. The trouble is, it’s sometimes difficult to figure out 1) when it’s time to take the leap and 2) exactly how to get started.

Have you ever thought, “What next?” only to realize you’re not sure how to answer that?

At Skillcrush, we often hear from our students and potential students that they get why tech skills could benefit anyone—they’re just not sure exactly how to leverage their skills after learning them. And then there are all those other questions: When am I ready to take on a new role? Do I know enough? Will I ever?

You’ll be ready sooner than you think! And the best way to get over all that self-doubt is to see exactly how it’s done. That’s why we’ve asked two women in tech (and former Skillcrush alums) to join us for this webinar to share exactly how they took the skills they learned at Skillcrush and leveraged them to change their careers. What better way to plan a career transition of your own?

You’ll Learn:

  • How to take the skills you learn and actually use them to get hired
  • How to start a freelance career for the first time, including landing your first client
  • Our best tips for selling yourself successfully, regardless of your career goals
  • The answers to any and all questions you have about turning tech skills into cash money

Webinar Guests

Amanda Hasenzahl

FRONT END WEB DEVELOPER

Amanda is a self-taught web developer who made the career change from outdoor recreation and customer service to tech about two years ago. She is a Massachusetts native that is currently living in Nashville, TN and works full-time at an advertising agency.

She fell in love with coding because of the challenge that it brings to the table. It allows her to think critically, attack problems head on, focus on the details, and be intentional in all that she does. But her favorite part of web development is being able to bring stories to life through code. She has done work for the American Cancer Society – Birmingham AL chapter, Romair Homes, and Abeka Academy.

Edinah Chewe

VISUAL DESIGNER

Edinah is a 26-year-old (currently traveling in North America) who’s a visually passionate creative using digital art as a medium to inspire and encourage others to embrace who they are. She’s successfully collaborated with brands and companies to create branding identities, custom website designs and both digital, print creative collateral.

Her design work has been featured in Refinery29, Melanation, Grow Wild Workshop (of Violet Tinder Studios), Girlboss, 23Hive, Ethos for Life LLC, Perfec-Tone, Azania Love, and more.

Kit Warchol

HEAD OF CONTENT, SKILLCRUSH

Kit oversees the editorial + content marketing team at Skillcrush, an online platform that teaches tech skills including coding, web design, UX, and digital marketing. She’s written for Fast Company, Knit Wit Magazine, Modern Painters, ARTINFO, Refinery29, and Entrepreneur, among others.

When she’s not working, she can be found on the hunt for Los Angeles’ best ceviche, trying (always) to catch up on last week’s New Yorker or inifinite-scrolling her Instagram.
