Be careful what you comment on

be-careful-what-you-comment-on

Over the last few months I have been receiving increasing numbers of emails which go along the lines of:

Two years ago I made a comment on your article (TITLE HERE), which linked to my website. Now I am trying to remove all comments that link to my site, would you mind deleting the comment? It’s the one from (SOME SPAMMY NAME HERE).

Clearly this relates to Google’s various “panda penguin”-related updates during the past year, and backlinks that once added SEO value to a site, no longer do, and may even penalise a site’s ranking.

Up until now I have removed comments when requested. However I’ve decided that life is too short and mine is busy enough already, so I will be ignoring future requests. If this affects you, think of it as karma for posting spammy comments in the first place.
