Global infrastructure provider Aligned Data Centers has announced plans to build a new mega-scale data center campus in Ohio, signaling a major investment in the future of AI infrastructure and regional economic development. The company has secured a 197-acre site within the Conesville Industrial Park, adjacent to the retired AEP Conesville Power Plant, for what is set to become its third data center campus in the state.
The project represents a multi-billion dollar phased investment and is positioned to play a significant role in the revitalization of Coshocton County. By repurposing a former brownfield site, Aligned aims to turn the area into a high-tech economic hub.
The development is expected to generate thousands of construction jobs and hundreds of long-term operational roles, supporting both the local workforce and the state’s growing digital economy.
Hyperscale, AI/HPC, Enterprises
Andrew Schaap, CEO of Aligned, described the expansion as a strategic move aligned with the company’s goal of providing scalable, sustainable infrastructure to meet global demand from hyperscale, AI/HPC, and enterprise customers. Schaap emphasized the broader economic and social impact of the project, noting that it will bring billions of dollars in private investment, attract new industries, and drive tax revenue to support public services and infrastructure in the region.
The new Aligned campus is scheduled to begin initial capacity delivery in mid-2026 and has already secured a key client for its first facility. Aligned also reiterated its commitment to local engagement, pledging to support educational and environmental initiatives in partnership with community stakeholders.
As the demand for AI-ready data infrastructure intensifies, Aligned’s expansion in Ohio reflects both a competitive business strategy and a targeted approach to sustainable, regional development – underscoring the growing importance of digital infrastructure in the broader economic landscape.
